Lotus Textured Soy Protein. GMO Free. Ideal for your vegetarian and vegan creations, such as in curries, casseroles, stews, burgers and soups. Made from defatted soy flour, it will absorb approximately 3 times its weight in water. I have served this many times to meat eaters, who were certain I was serving them mince. When I told them it was TVP or textured vegetable protein, they were surprised. TVP mince is made up of irregular shaped caramel coloured particles . It has a bland cereal - nutty flavour and a pleasant aroma. Upon hydration, it will have a chewy texture. Packed in Australia from imported ingredients (India).  200 grams

Common Uses

Textured vegetable (Soy) Protein

TVP mince is made up of irregularly shaped caramel coloured particles. It has a bland cereal nutty flavour and a pleasant aroma. Upon hydration it will have a chewy texture.

Suggested Dosage

To Use Textured Soy Protein:  Add approximately 1 cup of boiling water to 1 cup of soy textured protein (TVP mince).  Cover with a tea towel and allow to steam for 5 minutes until it resembles mince.  Then use just like mince.

Cauliflower Bolognaise

1 small to medium cauliflower
1 cup textured vegetable protein (mixed with 3 cups of water)
2 onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
440 gram can tomato puree
425 gram can tomato paste
1 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp nutmeg
2 beef stock cubes, crumbled

Cooking method

Simmer cauliflower pieces in water until tender. Drain, place in greased casserole dish and keep hot. Brown textured vegetable protein in frying pan or saucepan. Add a little oil if necessary. Add remaining ingredients and simmer gently for 20 minutes. Pour over cauliflower and serve immediately.

High protein, Low carb cereal

1/4 cup textured soy protein
1/2 cup coconut or almond milk
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract or cinnamon
Lotus LSA, for sprinkling

Combine the Lotus Textured Soy Protein, milk and cinnamon/vanilla. Either leave to soak overnight in the fridge and enjoy the next day or heat in a small pan and cookuntil tender, serving hot. 

Sprinkle with Lotus LSA for an extra protein and fibre hit. Lovely with fresh fruit added.
