New Hemisphere Hemp Seed Oil. Extra virgin Cold Pressed. Product of New Zealand. A source of Omega 3 & 6, contains up to 5% GLA. Rich, nutty and delicate in flavour, this oil contains a naturally occuring nutritional balance of Essential fatty acids. This includes the EFA's Omega 6 & 3 in a 3:1 ratio, which is considered an essential part of a balanced diet. Take one 15ml tablespoon daily, or use as a delicious salad drizzling or dipping oil. Pressed from GE free hemp seed, harvested from the fertile Canterbury plains of New Zealand. The oil is cold pressed and produced without the use of solvents. Hemp seed oil is commonly used as in ingredient in such condiments as salad dressing and mayonnaise. It can be used as an ingredient in bread or other baking. Some people like to drizzle it on a baked potato, instead of butter, and others use it in pesto. We do not recommend hemp seed oil for frying as the high temperatures involved damage the nutritional value of it. Hemp seed oil has a rich, nutty flavour, which most people enjoy. For other customers hemp seed oil is taken as a dietary supplement, at a dose of one or two tablespoonfuls per day, to supply a good source of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.
It is ideal to use as salad dressings or mayonnaise. If taking as a dietary supplement take at a dose of one or two tablespoonfuls per day. Drizzle on food or take from the spoon, but do not heat, as this destroys the beneficial properties.

There has been a good deal of debate in the press about the virtues and vices of the hemp plant. Hemp is a crop that is grow with agro-chemicals. It yields a strong fibre, which is used for paper and textiles. The seed is high in protein and oil, and does not contain pesticide residues. The botanical name for hemp is Cannabis Sativa. The main difference between the hemp plant and her more famous sister is that hemp contains only a minute amount of THC, and can not be used for drug purposes. Hemp seed oil can be used over a long period of time to maintain a healthy essential fatty acid balance, without leading to either EFA deficiency or imbalance. This is because it contains omega3 and omega 6 in a better long-term balance: Three to one. In addition, it contains almost 2% GLA , the omega 6 derivative that is a key active ingredients in evening primrose and borage oil. Hemp seed oil tastes like sunflower oil. It is green in colour due to its content of magnesium containing chlorophyll. Most people who have sampled hemp oil preferred its taste over the taste of flax seed oil.
