If you have a UTI, try D-Mannose
In a study of more than 300 women with a history of recurrent UTI's, researchers treated the women with either two grams of D-Mannose, 50mg of an antibiotic, or no treatment daily for six months
Only 15% of those taking the D-Mannose has a recurrent UTI compared to 20% for the antibiotic group (both of which were significantly lower than the no-treatment group). However, the incidence of side effects was significantly lower in the D-Mannose group to the antibiotic group.
Urinary Tract Infections
A urinary tract infection is an infection involving the urethra, bladder, ureters or kidneys. These four areas comprise of the urinary tract, where urine passes through the body.
Approximately 85% of UTIS are caused by a type of bacteria called E.coli. These bacteria normally live in the bowel, but they sometimes get into the urinary tract from sexual intercourse or incorrect wiping.
E.coli loves to colonise in the bodies of warm-blooded animals and humans like us. The cell walls of each E.coli are covered with tiny fingerlike projections called fimbria allowing them to stick to the inner walls of the bladder and even work their way upward to the ureter and kidneys. Because they cling to the lining of the urinary organs, they cannot simply be washed out when you urinate.
D-Mannose is a naturally occurring sugar found in cranberries, that works by inhibiting bacteria from lining the walls of the urinary tract and causing infections.
The amount of D-Mannose in cranberry juice is significantly less, making it much less effective. Plus, cranberry juice is high in sugar, which adds stress to the growth of pathogenic bacteria in your gut.
Pure D-Mannose is about 10-50 times stronger than cranberry, non-toxic and completely safe, with no adverse side effects.
Benefits of D-Mannose
Reduces the severity and symptoms of UTI's
Effective UTI management and prevention
Diabetic friendly - does not contain the sugar of other remedies such as cranberry juice
How D-Mannose works
D-Mannose has been proved to fight against urinary tract infections caused by the bacteria E.coli.
Unfortunately for the E.coli, D-Mannose sticks to E.coli fingers even better than E.coli sticks to human cells
When we take a large quantity of D-mannose, almost all of its spills into the urine through our kidneys, literally coating any E.coli present so they can no longer stick to the inside walls of the bladder and urinary tract. The E.coli are then rinsed away with normal urination.
For lower urinary tract infections, D-Mannose is a great first call treatment option. As a natural treatment, d-mannose does not come with the side effects that antibiotics do. Using antibiotics against bladder infections frequently could lead to more resistant E.coli, thrush and long term antibiotic-related complications. Additionally, antibiotics kill even more friendly micro-organisms in your body, leading to major disruptions in health, including an increased risk of disturbance of gut flora and yeast infection in women.
Each 1 sachets provides: D-Mannose 2000mg, Sodium 22mg, Potassium 92mg. Other ingredients: Citric acid, natural cranberry flavour, beetroot powder, silicon dioxide, stevia, beetrot juice powder, monk fruit extract.
