Using a plastic or a glass container only, combine equal amounts of herbatint herbal hair colour gel with the glycol developer (for medium to short hair: 30ml of Herbatint herbal hair colour gel with 30ml of glycol developer; for long hair: 60ml of Herbatint herbal hair colour gel with 60ml of Glycol developer).
Make sure the mixture has been thoroughly blended before application.
Put on the enclosed gloves.
For non treated hair (not dyed or permed), Apply Herbatint colour mixture onto dry hair. Make sure hair shaft, from root to end is completely covered. Wait 40 minutes.
For previously treated hair (dyed or permed), Apply a portion of the herbatint mixture on dry roots (regrowth) of the hair first. Wait 30 minutes, then apply the remaining mixture of herbatint onto the rest of the hair. Make sure the hair shaft, from root to end, is completely covered. Wait an additional 10 minutes. Total processing time is 40 minutes.
Rinse out Herbatint mixture thoroughly with water until the rinse water is clear, then wash hair using the Normalising shampoo. Apply the Royal cream conditioner. Wait 5 minutes and rinse again.
Frequently asked questions about using herbatint products.
Q. Can I perm my hair after colouring it?
A. Yes, but we suggest waiting 15-20 days after colouring. As perming may weaken or damage hair, we recommend using Royal Cream Conditioner which is designed to strengthen treated hair.
Q. What does chlorine do to colour-treated hair?
A. Chlorine reacts with hair colour in different ways. For example, blonde hair can take on a greenish tinge, brunette can come up to red and medium shades can turn brassy. Prolonged and frequent exposure to chlorine, salt water and sun can leave colour-treated hair extremely dry and straw-like.
We suggest the following:
Put a small amount of Royal Cream through dry hair before entering the pool. This will seal the outer hair and protect hair from chemical damage. Always shampoo hair after swimming.
Q. How do I go about selecting the best shade?
A. Look at the colour swatches on the chart provided at our health shop, or check the latest colour chart and brochure here. Alternatively, contact us and we will gladly provide a copy of the chart.
Q. How often should I colour my hair?
A. Gentle Vegetal Colours can be applied as often as once a week, or when colour washes out after 6-8 shampoos. When using permanent Herbatint shades, we recommend colouring regrowth which is often noticeable after 4-5 weeks.
Q. How do I maintain colour treated hair?
A. Natural Antica Herbavita hair colourings are very gentle products. However, if your hair tends to be dry and brittle, use Royal Cream Conditioner after shampooing.
Q. Do I need to use plastic gloves when I colour my hair?
A. Wearing gloves is recommended, and we provide them.
Q. How do Antica Herbavita colourings compare to henna?
A. Unlike Antica Herbavita, which penetrates the hair with colour, henna creates a solid coating around the hair shaft, making it impossible for other colour treatments to be used. If Henna is present in the hair, it needs to be grown out before applying colour. Neither of our Henna red colours (Herbatint FF1 or Vegetal VN13) contain Henna.
Q. I recently permed my hair; can I now colour it?
A. Yes, but because permed hair is more porous, we suggest a shade one level lighter than your normal use.
