The synergy of the nutrients in this formula provide essential nutrients for optimal eye function. Especially helpful for the elderly or people needing support due to deteriorating vision, or eye strain. 60 caps
Strengthening eye function will lead to better visual acuity. Major nutrients and herbs needed for optimal eye functioning are included. This formula may help improve visual acuity, night vision and reduce cataract, glaucoma, retinal damage and macular degeneration. Dietary Recommendations: include foods high in carotenoids, spinach, kale, pumpkin, squash, butternut, green leafy vegetables, carrots, and lots of fresh fruit. The recommendation is for five different fruits and five different vegetables per day.
Take two capsules daily with water, preferably with food.
This supplement is specific for people with eye problems. It contains a spectrum of nutrients and herbs needed for proper eye functions. Vitamin A (as retinol palmitate) is essential for eye health. Dietary deficiency of Vitamin A causes night blindness, colour vision impairment, eye dryness, and an inability for the eye to remain wet, which can lead to corneal scars. Vitamin E has been shown to help prevent eye damage. In addition to its antioxidant protection of cellular membranes Vitamin E is an established corrective agent for nerve-related retinal problems. A deficiency of Vitamin E is considered the cause of several types of retinal diseases (beta-and hypolipoproteinemia and premature retinopathy.) Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) is essential for the functioning of niacinamide. Deficiency of riboflavin can cause inflammation and inappropriate blood vessel development in the cornea. Early signs of riboflavin deficiency include burning and itching of the eyes and excessive tearing (lacrimation). Sensitivity to light and congestion of the conjunctiva are also often present in Vitamin B2 deficiency. Vitamin B3 (Niacin) dilates blood vessels and supports the proper flow of blood to the eyes. Insufficient blood flow and high pressure are factors in a majority of common eye problems. Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin needed to metabolise fats. The outer retina is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and biotin is essential to their proper maintenance. A deficiency of biotin has been linked to stretching of the optic nerve, which can cause problems in the sebaceous glands. Zinc is used therapeutically to relieve night blindness. Copper is essential to the protective activity of antioxidants. Because long-term use of zinc can interfere with copper absorption, it is recommended that a dietary supplement regimen for long-term prevention of eye problems should include this mineral. Citrus Bioflavonoids (which are found in citrus plants) have demonstrated antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory benefits. Bioflavonoids help support the blood vessels that supply the macular region of the retina. Taurine is one of the most abundant amino acids in the retina and central nervous system. It is necessary for proper reception of light in the retina. Taurine can also act as a free radical scavenger to prevent severe cellular damage. Lutein is a fat-soluble pigment that gives marigolds their vibrant yellow/orange colouring. Plants use lutein to help absorb light during photosynthesis. Eyes also use lutein to absorb blue light that otherwise would damage the retina and macula as lutein is the dominant protective pigment in the eye. Cayenne Pepper along with vitamin C , provides flavonoids, which have the ability to inhibit the process of cataract formation. Cayenne is also recognised for its ability to improve poor circulation (a primary cause of many eye problems). Bilberry provides astragali which is an active inhibitor of the formation of cataracts - even diabetic cataracts. Bilberry also provides flavonoids and a wholefood form of lutein which helps protect the eye from oxidative damage. The rich purple pigments of bilberry are used to support and improve night vision. Siberian Ginseng is an adaptogen herb that helps the system adapt to stress that might otherwise traumatise delicate nerves and blood vessels in the eyes. Siberian Ginseng is used to shorten the recovery period for eyestrain and improve energy reserves for tired eyes. OPC's are fully bioavailable antioxidants from the seeds of grapes. The major proteins of the eye lens are particularly vulnerable to oxidative stress. Improved circulation, reduced swelling or puffiness, reduced eye fatigue and better visual and cognitive response indicate OPC activity.
