Antipodes - A NZ Natural Skincare Range
Friday, July 14th 2006
There is a new natural skincare range that's available in stores now - and it's made in New Zealand! We found Elizabeth Barbalich's Antipodes story so interesting that we wanted you to read about it for yourself, so here it is directly from Elizabeth?
"I wanted to continue with the benefits of a gentler and more holistic lifestyle, so I began searching for other options to what I found was the harshness of the chemical-based skincare I was using. I'd studied Physical Education and Science at university, so I became very interested in exactly what ingredients were being used and why."
"It worried me to be putting the chemicals contained in these products onto my skin - and therefore straight into my body. Yet even when I tried some of the best natural ranges on the market, I still couldn't find moisturisers that were sufficient for my skin's needs."
"I was looking for skincare that would be very hydrating, have active and effective natural plant ingredients, with beautiful fragrances - as well as look gorgeous in my bathroom and bedroom!"
"The idea of creating my own skincare range that would do all this was sparked when I began training as a naturopath. With the assistance of Horticultural Research and one of New Zealand's top industrial scientists, I completed the range," said Elizabeth.
"I loved the research into plants and their extraordinary health benefits. And I was simply overawed by the incredible properties of the under-used oil of the avocado pear, and the beauty and benefits of many other ingredients in the New Zealand environment such as kawakawa leaf, kiwi seed oil, and manuka oil. Avocado oil is brimming with very high levels of antioxidants - chlorophyll and vitamin E. Plus it's loaded with vitamin's A, B1, B2, D and omega's 3 and 9. It also contains lecithin a natural humectant that draws water into the skin - and as a result it is the ultimate healthy oil to balance and revitalise the skin" said Elizabeth.
In order to create an exotically scented range, "I travelled to India, and studied the skin enhancing benefits of essential oils, which are used there in daily life." Back in New Zealand, these fragrances along with other premium oils sourced globally have created the gorgeous scents in the Antipodes range.
My favourite scent and texture is the Divine Face Oil - an intense hydrating oil for stressed skin, which absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy residue. The Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream is beautifully fresh yet light; however the whole product range is suitable for all skin types and ages.
Elizabeth believes that "finding the balance of mind, body and spirit is a real key to health and happiness in life. So I'm thrilled to present the Antipodes range of products to you: smart, natural, sensory skincare that allows you to connect with nature."
The range includes:
Hallelujah Lime & Patchouli Cleanser, Resurrect Facial Toner, Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream, Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream, Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream, Divine Face Oil, Heavenly Body Oil.
