With the steady influx of junk mail, news reports, and infomercials on multis and you can go downright batty trying to decide which multivitamin is best for you.
Research indicates you need a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement. No matter how healthy your eating habits, it's virtually impossible to get all the nutrition you need from food alone - and given the changes in our bodies as we age, that's doubly true if you're aged over 50.
So, what's the answer?
Researchers at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota studied the effects of taking a multivitamin and mineral supplement on survival and quality of life in lung cancer patients. A total of 1,129 patients provided information on supplements use, 714 of these patients took multivitamin supplements or combinations of other vitamins and minerals. When supplement habits were compared to survival rates during follow-up, supplement users lived more than twice as long as non-supplementers and showed a 26% lower risk of dying. Quality of life was also improved in the supplementers.
Men - Are you tired of feeling rundown, low on energy, short on stamina and generally lack lustre?
Women - Are you tired of having acne long after puberty, breasts too tender to touch and no energy left at the end of the day to enjoy life?
Then maybe you need your own special multivitamin and mineral supplement. The addition of a high quality multivitamin dietary supplement is especially important as your dietary needs are outpaced by today's increasingly busy and stressful lifestyle.
The average western diet is full of over-processed, refined, denatured and nutrient depleted foods. Even a diet high in fresh fruits and vegetables is no insurance, as our soils have been depleted of essential nutrients and minerals by poor agricultural management and the addition of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
