Alfa-Max Herb (concentrated Alfalfa)
When we talk about Alfalfa most people immediately think of sprouts. But the North American Indians used it as a food to alleviate liver problems and to encourage blood clotting.
Its present day use includes its ability to alkalise the body in cases of high acidity such as gout, rheumatism and inflammatory conditions which are accompanies by swelling and inflammation. Alfalfa supports connective tissue integrity.
Alfalfa is rich in nutrients including chlorophyll, cobalt, B vitamins, beta carotene, Vitamin C, Vitamin K and protein. It also contains many other trace minerals including selenium and other nutrients such as silica for good hair and nails. It has the ability to help digestion and assimilation of protein, carbohydrates, iron and calcium.
Alfalfa is a nutritive tonic and has been found very effective in wasting conditions and recuperation from illness and injury. It helps to rebuild and generate normal strength and vitality. Alfalfa is considered a super food to fortify a depleted or poor diet. It is an excellent addition to dietary programmes designed to build blood and collagen tissue, including ligaments, hair and nails.
Alfa-Max can be used safely as a dietary addition in pregnancy.
Only Nature's Way Alfa-Max capsules contain an extract of fresh Alfalfa leaves that have been concentrated 10 times. This is much more digestible than raw Alfalfa because the plant cellulose has been removed. Eight Nature's Way Alfa-Max capsules contain approximately 43% protein (by weight) and 2,600 IU of natural beta-carotene.
Yucca was a valuable plant to the American Indians of the Southwest. They used the roots medicinally to treat arthritis, rheumatism, gout and related disorders. Yucca did not come into popular use until 1975. Inflammatory diseases of all kinds are treated with yucca root. Its active principles are saponins which resemble steroidal hormones in chemistry and are used to produce the precursors of cortisone. Yucca may stimulated the adrenal glands of the body to produce their own anti-inflammatory corticosteroids.
However, the anti-inflammatory activity of Yucca may be seriously affected by phenobarbitol and certain other sedatives and hypnotics such as chloral hydrate and meprobate.
It is available as Nature's Way Yucca 490mg capsules (green label) which contain the whole dried root.
