Indigestion: Could Be Too Little Stomach Acid

Are you living on antacids?
The problem may be too little acid in the stomach rather than too much (especially for people over 50 years of age).
Back in 1967 Dr Hugh Tuckey presented a paper addressing the importance of Hydrochloric acid (HCl), following 30 years of research and the treatment of hundreds of patients. He stated:
"We have seen people by the hundreds come into the office who were living on a splendid, balanced diet, yet had bloating, gas, often foul breath, constipation and all the conditions that you would expect to find in a person not watching their diet at all.
Hydrochloric acid acidifies the stomach and protects the chewed food in the stomach so that it does not become putrefactive and create gas.
If we don't have enough HCl, the protein is not prepared for the next stage of digestion and the emptying time of the stomach is slowed. You may go to bed feeling fairly well, but may wake up later with a burning stomach or burning behind the breastbone. Many people get up and take an antacid, further alkalinising an already acid deficient stomach.(Most antacids also contain aluminium which has been implicated in various chronic diseases)."
