Just like vitamins, certain minerals are required by your body to help it grow, develop, and stay healthy. The body uses minerals to perform many different functions — from building strong bones to transmitting nerve impulses. There are 2 kinds of minerals – macro (e.g. calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium) and trace (e.g. iron, copper, iodine, zinc and selenium). Your body needs larger amounts of macrominerals than trace.
