Health Information

Natural fish oil is an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids. The 0mega 3 fatty acids, mainly found in certain seafood's, have been clearly shown to offer some protection against heart disease. They help reduce abnormal blood clotting, high cholesterol and blood pressure - all factors which contribute to this condition. The fish oils are not directly responsible for these actions, as the body converts the fatty acids into prostaglandin's and other similar compounds. These then exert their effects on various tissues of the body. Some people find these substances also provide relief from arthritis. Arthritis sufferers may find our product especially beneficial, as omega 3 also contains vitamins A and D - traditional remedies for relieving the pain of arthritis. Other studies show that some of these prostaglandin's can help kill breast, lung and prostate cancer cells. From this evidence, the Journal of the National Cancer Institute declared that omega-3 fats have "potential clinical usefulness" in cancer treatment. It is important to be aware though, that evidence shows that high intakes of omega-6 oil (found in common seed oils) even though they are essential for some functions, also promote inflammatory prostaglandin's that can promote cancer growth. Omega-3 fatty acids keep this cancer effect of omega-6 fatty acids under control. For optimal resistance to cancer, you have to keep your intake of omega-3 fatty acids dominant over omega-6. Nutritionally speaking, most western diets, including the NZ diet, are very low in alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3) but high in linoleic acid (omega-6). Most vegetable oils have little or no omega-3 fatty acids and a lot of omega-6 fatty acids. The only common oil that contains a healthy balance is organic flaxseed. The benefits of omega-3 fatty acids does not stop with cancer. The evidence is impressive that a high intake of omega-3 fatty acids goes a long way to inhibit cardiovascular disease, adult onset diabetes, some skin diseases and rheumatoid arthritis.

Each vegicap contains Fish Oil - Natural 1000mg, including Omega-3 Marine Triglycerides 300mg, equiv. Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) 180mg, equiv. Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) 120mg, equiv. Cholecalciferol (Vit D3 2.5IU) 62.5ng, equiv. Vitamin A (Retinol) (25IU) 7.5mcg. Natural Vitamin E (present as an antioxidant). Free from sugar, salt, wheat, gluten, yeast, dairy, artificial colours and preservatives. Gelatin Free.
