Common Uses

Fenugreek is most commonly used to increase milk production during lactation. It is also soothing and healing to the mucous membranes of the stomach and intestine. This herb is often used for GI disorders such as gastric or duodenal ulcers, diverticulosis, dysentery, colitis, diarrhoea, irritable bowel and Crohn's disease. May also benefit those who are underweight or with poor appetite or general debility. Fenugreek may also assist with reduction of elevated blood sugar levels in diabetes, reduction of fever, menstrual pains, bronchitis, coughs, respiratory problems, sinus conditions.

Suggested Dosage

Take two capsules, two to three times daily as needed.

Fenugreek is one of the world's oldest medicinal herbs used traditionally by Egyptians, Greeks and Romans for medicinal and culinary purposes. It has a variety of uses, but most commonly it is used to increase breast milk production during lactation. Fenugreek seeds contain hormone precursors (diosgenin) that increase milk supply, Its use was associated with increases by as much as 900%, however the mechanism of this action is unknown. It has been found that Fenugreek can increase a nursing mother's milk supply within 24 to 72 hours after first taking the herb. Once an adequate level of milk production is reached, most women can discontinue the Fenugreek and maintain the milk supply with adequate breast stimulation. However, some women may need to continue taking Fenugreek until the breastfeeding infant is weaned. Due to the activity of the hormonal precursors Fenugreek has also been used to increase libido in men, increase erectile function and serve as an aphrodisiac. The seeds are still used in Middle Eastern countries for weight gain in underweight individuals and to naturally augment bust size. These effects are also attributed to the presence of hormonal precursors. Fenugreek also contains mucilaginous constituents that give the herb a wonderful internal demulcent property which leaves a soothing protective coating over gastro-intestinal surfaces. Fenugreek is also a nutrient rich herb with anti-inflammatory, hypoglycaemic (reduces elevated blood sugars) and colon lubricant properties. Researchers have confirmed the anti-inflammatory effects of Fenugreek, thus adding credibility to claims of the herb's beneficial effect in treating wounds, arthritis and other inflammations. Fenugreek is used to treat coughs and bronchitis as well as to reduce mucus production and help ease asthma and sinus problems. It may also help ease stomach and menstrual pain. Studies have shown that Fenugreek reduces cholesterol in animals. Recent studies have also proven that Fenugreek has a hypoglycaemic effect, reducing blood glucose levels in people with type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes.

Each 2 capsules contain 1,220mg of Fenugreek seeds.  Other ingredients Gelatin capsule.
