Common Uses

Elecampane is relaxing to the bronchial muscle and lungs and at the same time stimulates expectoration, encourages a more fluid mucous and has a antibacterial effect. It is useful in bronchitis, chronic or irritating coughs and asthma. Elecampane can also help stimulate digestive function. White Horehound has a very similar action to Elecampane and is indicated for the same conditions as well as whooping cough. Marshmallow soothes an irritated respiratory tract. Licorice is an expectorant and anti-inflammatory herb which also stimulates mucous secretion and one of its many functions is as a respiratory herb for coughs, bronchitis and asthma. Aniseed is both spasmolytic and expectorant making it particularly effective treatment in hard, dry coughs, spasmodic coughs, asthma, bronchial catarrh and pertussis (whooping cough).

Suggested Dosage

Add to food or water. Dogs: 2 drops per kg of bodyweight 2-4 times daily Cats: 1 drop per kg of bodyweight twice a day.
