Clinicians Mens Hormone Support is a research based combination of nutrients designed to prevent the action of Aromatase enzymes in those individuals at risk of developing prostate cancer. Active botanical extracts designed to balance and support normal hormonal levels in males, especially where prostate health is of concern. The ingredients include chrysin, DIM, saw palmetto and nettle, all known for their use with hormonal imbalances. Leanne uses this with men who have too higher estrogen levels. 60 capsules

An overview of aromatisation. The healthy functioning of cells and tissues is not only dependant on the correct complement of nutrients, but also the correct ratio of hormones in the body. For both males and females, the sex hormones in particular, are important in maintaining cellular health and slowing down the aging process. In females, the oestrogen hormones (oestradiol, oestrone and estriol) are responsible for these effects, while in males, it is the hormone testosterone that maintains male health and vitality. An incorrect balance of these hormones, or their conversion to other forms can negatively impact on the health of cells and tissues and on an individuals over all health. Genetic factors combined with the aging process (a gradual decline in hormone levels) are believed to be the main factors contributing to this hormonal conversion. Protecting the integrity of the oestrogens in females and testosterone in males is paramount to their health, especially through the aging process.
In females, the hormones oestradiol, oestrone and estriol exist in a balanced state and together they exert their optimal beneficial effects. Oestrone, however can also convert to the hormones 2 and 16-hydroxyestrone. It does this via an enzyme pathway known as the aromatase pathway in a process called aromatisation. This process takes place in all tissues including breast and ovarian tissue. While 2-hydroxyestrone is safe, 16-hydroxyestrone is not and an unwanted increase in this hormone has been linked to an increased risk of developing breast, uterine and ovarian cancer. Women who have increased levels of 16-hydroxyestrone may also be at risk of developing osteoporosis.
In males, healthy functioning of the prostate gland is dependant on correct levels of testosterone. Testosterone however, due to the aging process, has the potential of converting to oestrogen via the process of aromatisation. This increase in oestrogen may stimulate growth factors within prostate cells causing them to divide uncontrollably. This process is one of several hormonal mechanisms that have been implicated in the development of prostate enlargement or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Testosterone may also undergo conversion to dihydrotestosterone or DHT. This conversion is mediated by the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. An increase in DHT levels in the prostate gland may also contribute to prostate cell growth and BPH. Chronic prostate enlargement has been linked to an increased risk of developing prostate cancer. An increase in DHT has also been linked to increased skin oiliness, male pattern baldness and hirsutism.
