This formula is an ideal choice for the pregnant woman and lactating mother. As a full vitamin and mineral complex, the nutrients are well absorbed and tolerated. In preparation for pregnancy, through pregnancy, and during lactation certain nutrients should be supplied in their optimal form. Women who have been taking the contraceptive pill often show low nutrient status in the following nutrients, B1, B2, B6, C, Folic Acid and Zinc. Conception that occurs immediately after cessation of the pill increases the risk of malformation or spontaneous abortion. The three most important nutrients during pregnancy are Calcium, Folic Acid, and Iron. Certain B vitamins have of course shown to be protective against neural tube defects and low infant birth weights.
As a food supplement for pregnant and lactating women two (2) tablet daily, preferably at mealtime, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.
Prenatal Nutrients have recognized the vital importance of minerals throughout pregnancy and contains all the essential minerals at substantial levels. When your body is lacking minerals, vitamins will have little or no effect. Our ideal dose of two tablets daily supplies an elemental amount of 650mg of calcium. The iron compound is presented in the unique non-constipating form of iron bisglycinate. This is well received by the body and has been shown to be gentle on the gastrointestinal tract. It also supplies manganese which is an important mineral in pregnancy, and deficiency is believed to be linked to the mother not bonding correctly with her child. This formula supplies a broad array of antioxidants including vitamins A,C,E, carotenoids, and the minerals selenium and zinc. It contains all the essential vitamins, with the majority of the vitamin A activity derived from carotenoids. Carotenoids are plant sourced forms of vitamin A and are therefore essentially non-toxic. However since Vitamin A is indeed very important for a healthy pregnancy, included is a further 750 iu per tablet. (Vitamin A is only toxic to a pregnant women in supplemental forms of 10,000 iu or greater). The carotenoids, supplied in a broad spectrum, are naturally sourced from an algae, Dunaeilla salina.
