From Elizabeth Barbalich at Antipodes. The idea of creating my own skincare range was sparked when I began training as a naturopath. I loved the research into plants and their extraordinary health benefits. And I was simply overawed by the incredible properties of the under-used oil of the avocado pear, and the beauty and benefits of many other ingredients in the New Zealand environment. I wanted to create exotic fragrances that were reminiscent of the seasons in Aotearoa. I travelled twice to India with my family to study the use of essential oils and Ayurvedic medicine and their use in daily life. Not only were the oils sensual and healing for the skin, they also had powerful effects on the emotions. Back in New Zealand I engaged a French perfumer to capture and perfect the gorgeous fragrances I had discovered. I believe that finding the balance of mind, body and spirit is a real key to health and happiness in life.
