Suggested Dosage

One capsule twice daily, preferably with meals. Up to four capsules daily during times of increased need. Multivitamin are best taken at breakfast, as they are energy producing. Iron levels always need to be independently evaluated during pregnancy. If low, take Radiance Women's Iron Complex.

Lactation is also a time of change and high demand, as the rapidly growing infant depends on the quality of mother's milk to survive and develop at an optimally healthy rate. It is thought that good nutrition, weight control and adequate chromium levels may help reduce the risk of gestational diabetes, which is becoming more common. Iron is necessary for the formation of haemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen in red blood cells. Lack of iron (anaemia) can leave a pregnant woman feeling tired and fatigued, whilst also having a detrimental influence on foetal and childhood development. Iodine is an important factor in determining birth weight and research has shown that iodine deficiency in-utero and in childhood may significantly reduce brain and nervous system development. Selenium, a mineral very deficient in NZ soils, is important for helping prevent mercury toxicity (of mother and baby), anaemia and the serious pre-labour condition of pre-eclampsia. Zinc is essential for healthy foetal growth and development, especially neurological and immune development.
