Common Uses

Selenium is a natural antioxidant and is one of the essential body substances that can be used in a preventive manner for many diseases including cancer, stroke, arteriosclerosis, cirrhosis, arthritis and emphysema. Selenium is necessary for the production of prostaglandins, substances that affect blood pressure, pain threshold, hormonal balance etc. It is also an important mineral for male reproductive health.  It closely resembles sulphur in it physical properties. New Zealand soils are low in selenium, leading to a general deficiency of the population. Selenium deficiency can lead to premature ageing due to free radical damage, cataracts, growth retardation, liver necrosis and muscular dystrophy. Low levels are related to leukaemia, bladder, colon, breast and other forms of cancer.

Suggested Dosage

One tablet daily, preferably with food or as professionally prescribed.

Pancreatic function depends on Selenium. Selenium is deficient in New Zealand soils. Low levels of selenium are found in some cases of cancer, thyroid dysfunction, and may worsen a iodine deficiency state. This may reflect long term impairment of cell protection capacity. Low levels of selenium have been observed to increase with supplementation. This is reflective in hair samples.

Ingredients

Each tablet contains: Selenium 100mcg (Yeast Free L-Selenomethionine). 100% Vegetarian.  Cellulose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate.  No corn, egg, gluten, milk derivatives, nuts, salt, soy, sugar, wheat, artificial preservatives, flavourings or colours.

Keep out of reach of children. Large doses of selenium may be toxic. Store in a cool dry place.
