Celiac (Coeliac) disease is a serious, lifelong, gastrointestinal disorder that can cause a wide spectrum of clinical symptoms such as diarrhoea, abdominal distension, weight loss, malnutrition and skin disorders. Other symptoms include loss of appetite, delayed growth, fatigue, anaemia, bone and joint pain, weight loss, irritabilty, depression, dermatitis and discoloured tooth enamel. Gluten is a complex mixture of storage proteins found in wheat, barley and rye & oats. By following a gluten free diet, these symptoms can be avoided. Biocard Celiac Test is a home test for the detection of celiac disease associated IgA antibodies to transglutaminase from a fingertip blood sample. Biocard Celiac Test can be used as an aid in the diagnosis of celiac disease. During the gluten free diet, celiac disease associated IgA autoantibody levels will decrease. The amount of antibodies will often become undetectable a few weeks after a change in the diet has been made, or the latest is 6 months thereafter. Therefore you can have a negative test result if you are following a gluten free diet and no gluten has been consumed for a while. Therefore, if possible, gluten should consumed before the test is taken. Obviously do not introduce gluten if this will cause a health problem. Thus Biocard Celiac Test is a good tool for monitoring the effect of a gluten free diet, with relation to ceoliac's disease. Important, this pack does not test individuals for gluten intolerance.

Suggested Dosage

Wipe the end of your finger with the alcohol swab. Prick your finger with the lancet. Take the glass capillary out of the vessel and hold this diagonally on the drop of blood. The blood will be siphoned up into the glass capillary. Put the full capillary into the vial with the 0.5ml of sample dilution buffer. Put the sticking plaster on your finger. Shake the vial until the blood has dispersed into the vial and has mixed with the buffer. Open the Aluminium sachet containing the test stick. Place this into the Vial with the glass capillary. Leave for 5 minutes. A negative test is revealed by showing 1 red line. This shows you do not have Ceoliacs disease. 2 red lines shows the test is Positive and you have Ceoliacs disease.

Celiac disease is the result of a hereditary genetic disorder causing an inability to digest gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye. For sufferers of Celiac disease ingestion of gluten causes intestinal tissue damage and an accumulation of mucus that further inhibits digestion of other important nutrients. According to the Australian and New Zealand Celiac Research Fund (ANZCRF) 1 in 85 people have celiac disease. Although the number of people with celiac disease has increased 10 fold in the last 10 years it is estimated that only 10 to 20% of cases are actually diagnosed. Celiac disease causes a range of symptoms that are often difficult to diagnose, such as fatigue, skeletal pain, chronic diarrhoea and weight loss. Celiac disease has not been susceptible to a simple rapid screening method - until now. Based on cutting-edge technologies the new Biocard Celiac Test employs original, patented technology, to provide a simple tool for rapid diagnosis of celiac disease utilising one drop of fingertip blood. The test is designed to detect anti-transglutaminase 2 (TG2) antibodies from whole blood in five minutes. Research using the Biocard Celiac Test has proven the test to have 97% sensitivity and 91% specificity when compared to biopsy-proved celiac disease samples. Currently, the only treatment for celiac disease is strict and permanent adherence to a gluten free diet. This is why early and accurate diagnosis is so important. Allowing the symptoms of the disease to accumulate may have serious consequences to overall health and well being, especially in developing children and teenagers. Although celiac disease is often also referred to as gluten intolerance, an intolerance created by a purely immune based or allergy response to gluten (as opposed to an incurable genetic predisposition) may be able to be treated. If the symptoms indicate celiac disease but the Biocard test is negative, adherence to the gluten free diet is recommended whilst immune and gut support treatment is administered. In time, small amounts of gluten may be able to be tolerated if gut health and the immune function have been addressed.
