The first sign of a deficiency is the rupture of red blood cells, which have become increasingly fragile. The absorption of fat and fat soluble vitamins is reduced with a deficiency of Vitamin E. The result may be cystic fibrosis, blockage of the bile ducts and chronic inflammation of the pancreas. Vitamin E is not only an antioxidant, it is also of great importance in energy production. It is necessary for the proper focusing of the eyes in middle aged people and may aid in preventing cataracts. Vitamin E supplementation has been shown to assist the circulatory system: such as assisting with normal clotting and healing; reducing blood pressure; helping to treat and prevent heart disease and may help with varicose veins. It may also improve the condition of hair, skin and nails, and offers antioxidant activity throughout the body to scavenge free radicals generated by excess dietary fats, pollutants and stress. It can assist with wound healing and help heal burned tissue, skin ulcers and abrasions. These capsules can also be pierced so the oil can be applied topically to the skin and hair. As well as taking the capsules internally, many people find this a useful method to hasten the relief from symptoms of eczema and other similar skin conditions. May retard aging and prevent age spots as well. Vit E may also be useful in menopause assisting with symptoms such as hot flushes. May also improve athletic performance and aid leg cramps. The body needs zinc in order to maintain the proper levels of vitamin E in the blood.
Adults: One to two capsules daily (with food) or as professionally prescribed.
Vitamin E is arguably nature's most powerful antioxidant substance. Whilst the recommended daily intake (RDI) of Vitamin E is given at approximately 10 IU (international units) per day, this is nowhere near the dose needed for Vitamin E to act therapeutically. Clinical studies suggest the therapeutic dose for most conditions is around 400-500IU per day. Radiance Vitamin E is natural Vitamin E (i.e. not the 'dl' synthetic Vitamin E) derived from soy. This makes the capsules suitable for people with a gluten/wheat intolerance. Natural Vitamin E is more biologically active than the synthetic forms of Vitamin E.
Each Gelatin-Free capsule contains d-alpha Tocopherol 54.6mg (Natural Vitamin E 81.4 IU), Mixed tocopherol concentrate (high-a-type) 48mg, equivalent d-alpha-Tocopherol 12.5mg (Vit E 18.9 IU), Selenomethionine 16.1mcg, elemental selenium 6.5mcg.
