Health Information

As far back as the 1st century AD, gymnema was noted for successfully "destroying" excess sugars in the body, a condition known today as diabetes. It has also been used for stomach upsets and as a diuretic. It has been used in India for centuries to lower blood sugar. Clinical trials for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes show a significant reduction of blood sugar. Animal studies report a two-fold regeneration of insulin producing cells in the pancreas during a 20-day herb treatment. Reduction of blood sugar was most significant when hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) was related to pituitary dysfunction. We have seen dramatic changes in people who have diabetes, just by changing the way they eat. We believe that most people with both type 1 & type 2 diabetes should be following a diet that eliminates rapidly absorbed carbohydrates (all products made of white flour, white sugar, white rice, potato and other root vegetables and fruits) and increases not only the frequency of their meals (ideally each 2-2 and a half hours, especially during the day) and dramatically increase their overall protein and vegetable intake.
