Health Information

Nature's Way Bladderwrack (fucus vesiculosus) is a coarse, light yellow or brownish-green seaweed found commonly near the shoreline of Northern oceans. Bladderwrack contains a wide spectrum of polysaccharides including fucoidans and fucans. As with most plants grown in the ocean, fucus is very high in iodine and other trace minerals. In his book Eat Right For Your Blood Type, Dr. D'Adamo talks of Fucus vesiculosus being particularly beneficial for O blood types. In reference to O blood types, he states that "bladderwrack seems to help normalise the sluggish metabolic rate and produce weight loss." He also suggests that it is effective in helping to keep thyroid function normal in blood type O's, and discusses the potential usefulness of this plant for preventing the adherence of some unwanted microorganisms (H. pylori in his book's example) to the cells lining the digestive tract in blood type O's. Since before the time of the Eclectic Physicians of the early 19th century Bladderwrack has proven most useful in the treatment of under active thyroid glands, goitre and obesity. The mineral and iodine content of Bladderwrack helps regulate thyroid tissues, function and hormone production, which in turn assist in the improvement of all the associated symptoms. Where obesity is associated with thyroid trouble, this herb may be very helpful in reducing excess weight. It has been noted that this is particularly successful on O blood types and people less that 30 years of age. Bladderwrack also has a reputation for helping relieve the symptoms of rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis.

Per 1 capsule: Bladderwrack (whole thallus) 580mg. Providing: Iodine 350mcg, Sodium 10mg, Iron 340mcg. Other ingredients: Plant-derived cellulose (capsule).
