Because antibodies tend to persist long after the infection is resolved, it is not recommended to test for at least 3 months after a treatment plan has been finished.

New CanDia5 is a revolutionary 5-step test for candida that has no peer anywhere in the world. Candida infections are notoriously difficult to diagnose, in particular vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC); vaginitis is the most frequent gynecological diagnosis encountered by clinicians who provide primary care to women. Symptoms are non-specific and neither self diagnosis nor diagnosis from a physician is reliable without laboratory confirmation. Incorrect diagnosis leads to overuse of anti fungal agents with subsequent risk of contact and irritant vulvar dermatitis. The CanDia5 Candida Rapid Test is a highly sensitive immunochromatigraphic test device intended for the rapid detection of IgG antibodies to candida in fingertip whole blood, plasma and serum. In particular it is intended as an aid in the rapid diagnosis of infection of VVC, but can also detect candida infections resulting from overgrowth in the gastrointestinal and respiratory tract and is frequently used for this application. CanDia5 tests for antibodies to four candida species - C.albicans, C.glabrata, C.tropicalis and C.parapsiloiss. It provides a preliminary analytical result after which clinical consideration should be observed, especially where there is a positive result. CanDia5 has been tested for accuracy and reproducibility and has shown a high level of consistent accuracy, achieving a 95% Positive Predictive Value score (PPV). This level of PPV makes CanDia5 the most accurate diagnostic tool available for candida.
