An African Tradition

Kaloba EPs 7630 (P.sidoides) is one of the fastest growing remedies in Europe, with sales increasing over 700% in recent years. It is widely recommended by doctors and paediatricians because of its safety and high success rate.

The interest in Kaloba EPs 7630 started in 1897 when Englishman Charles Stevens traveled to South Africa hoping to cure himself of a serious upper respiratory illness. While there, a native tribal healer gave him a decoction of Pelargonium sidoides - a species of geranium unique to the area. It worked and fully recovered, he returned to England with his remedy, which became popular throughout Europe ad was know as Stevens' Consumption Cure.

In 1920, the missionary doctor Adrien Sechehaye learned of Stevens' cure. During the next nine years he treated over 800 patients in Switzerland with a preparation of P. sidoides roots. By 1929, he had published his numerous case studies. But with the advent of synthetic drugs, Stevens' remedy became largely forgotten by Western medicine - until its recent "rediscovery" by European researchers. This is where the modern story of P. sidoides really begins.

Reduces Severity of Coughs and Colds

In clinical studies, P. sidoides not only relieved symptoms associated with common colds but also shortened duration and reduced severity of throat, sinus and bronchial irritations. It also helped loosen mucous, making coughs more productive.

In trials, children suffering acute sore throat pain were able to return to school 2 days sooner with P. sidoides. Adults with acute bronchial symptoms were also able to return to work nearly two days earlier.

In an evaluation study, over 90% of patients and doctors rated P. sidoides as an effective remedy for colds and upper respiratory irritations.

Kaloba EPs 7630 is a tincture of Pelargonium sidoides, unique to South Africa.
