Bruises

A bruise is an injury that involves the rupture of small blood vessels, causing discolouration of underlying tissues without a break in the overlying skin. Bruises usually follow a blow or severe pressure, but are sometimes due to disorders of the capillary walls or disorders of the blood clotting process. Over about ten days, a bruise will turn green and then yellow before fading completely.
