Basic instructions for acute illness and colds
Use a herbal infection fighter, such as Echinacea, Olive Leaf
or Cat's Claw. These come in both capsules and liquid and act
as a natural antibiotic and immune system stimulant.
Use one of the following products:
ViralEx Child: The dosage for children 2-7 yrs is 1 tsp 3-4 times a day, 8-12 yrs 2 tsp 3-4 times a day. Once you have noticed a huge difference in symptoms, reduce to only once or twice a day - take until 3 days after ALL symptoms go
Relief Adult: The dosage is 2.5ml each 2 hours, in a small amount of water, while awake, for 24 hours. Then continue with the recommended dosages three times a day. This should be given until 3 days after all symptoms are gone
Echinacea TriPlex: The dosage is 1ml every 2
hours, in a small amount of water, while awake, for 24 hours, then
continue with the recommended dosages three times a day. This
should be given until 3 days after all symptoms are gone. Triplex
is not suitable for young children
Flu Biotic: Biotic is a combination of echinacea,
garlic, horseradish and nasturtium. It is a powerful powerpack of
natural antibiotic, antiseptic and antibacterial herbs. The dosage
is 4ml every 2 hours for 24hrs, while awake, then continue with the
recommended dosages three times a day. This should be given until 3
days after all symptoms are gone
Bio Attack: For infections of viral, fungal and bacterium origin. Initially take 2 capsules three times a day until relief is obtained, then reduce to 1 capsule three times a day, until 3 days after all symptoms go
Sambucol: This Elderberry extract comes in 4 different formulas, including Sambucol Original, Sambucol Sugar Free (suitable for diabetics), Sambucol Immune and Sambucol for Kids. The dosage for adults is initially 2 teaspoons four times a day, then 2 teaspoons twice a day
If your immunity is low:
Astraforte: If you suffer with repetitive colds
and flu, you should take a course of Astraforte. This is a
deep immune tonic that helps rebuild the immune system. The
recommended dosage for an adult is 2.5ml three times a day, in a
small amount of water. This is not suitable for children under 2
years
Multi-Vite: It is unrealistic to think you can get
all the vitamins and minerals you need from food alone, so taking a
multivitamin such as this would be a good choice. Take 1 tablet
with breakfast. Some people may initially benefit from another 1
tablet at lunch as well
Increase zinc status: Liquid Zinc can boost
immunity as well as reduce mucous & the severity/length of
cold. We also have Zinc Lozenges
If you have a cough or sore throat:
Mullein: If you have a cough or bronchial
infection, take 2-5ml Mullein, in a small amount of water,
every 2 hours for the first 24 hours, while awake. If no
improvement is noticed after this time, continue for a further 24
hours. Mullein is particularly good for coughing at nighttime.
After the intensive dosage, continue with the recommended daily
dosage until 3 days after all symptoms are gone
For a cough: We recommend Relief Cough Syrup. This is an effective cough mixture and this comes in both an adult and child formula
For the relief of sore throat: Mix an extra dose of the Echinacea Liquid and gargle with this deeply. Spit out. Do this 3-4 times a day, if needed. You can also gargle with sage tea. Alternatively you can use Relief Lozenges. Very delicious
Other important considerations:
Vitamin C: 500mg every 2-3 hours, except in cases where a lot of mucous exists
Cleanse the colon: The herbal laxative Cascara could be used (ask practitioner first). The Vitamin C could also assist here, however if the bowels have not moved within 36 hours please contact us
Consume only simple foods/reduce mucous forming foods: Avoid sugar, breads, tea, coffee, meat or junk food and dairy products. All tropical fruits, nuts and starch foods. Best foods are vegetable broths or soups (carrots, onion, parsley, potato etc) vegetable juices (carrots, parsley, celery), steamed vegetables, fruit but no citrus except lemon. Increase heating foods, ginger, black pepper, cayenne and fenugreek
Drink plenty of liquids: Chicory or dandelion coffee, red raspberry tea, chamomile and other tonic teas. Water with &/or without lemon juice. Have no less than 2 litres a day
Note: Dosages and suggestions are general guidelines only and may vary. In all cases of acute illness or cold you should seek the advice of a registered health practitioner.
